Itinerary
Day 1: Kathmandu – Pokhara
After breakfast, we drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara, the third-in-size town from Nepal, the entry gate for all Himalayan trekking. During the drive we have a beautiful sight on the impressive Himalayan massifs, the road paralleling the sinuous course of the river Trishuli. On the road, an interesting feature to notice is the richness and the inventiveness of ornaments from the crossing local tracks. Dinner and accommodation in a hotel in Pokhara.
Day 2: Pokhara – Naya Pull – Hille – Tikhedunga
Leaving Pokhara, after 1,5 hour drive we arrive to Naya Pull where the trekking begins. We walk about 15 minutes along the river Modi Khola and we reach Birethanti (1,015 meters in altitude) a large village where is the tourist checkpost and where we can find many shops and teahouses. We walk through the village and then we follow the valley of Bhurungdi Khola. The trail climbs steadily to Hille at 1,495 m, and finally we reach Tikhedhunga at 1,570 m. The walk of today allowed us to become accustomed to the experience of the following days of trekking in Nepal.
Day 3: Tikhedunga – Ulleri – Banthanti – Nangethanti – Ghorepani
After breakfast, we leave Tikhedunga and turn into a steep climb to Ulleri, a large village at 2,070 m with habitants of Magar culture. The trail continues with a gently ascension through forests of rhododendrons and oaks towards Banthanti (2,250 m) where we stop for lunch. After a short pause of rest, we continue to climb up towards Nangethanti (2,460 m), and further on to Ghorepani at 2,900 m. Dinner and accommodation.
Day 4: Ghorepani – Poon Hill – Ghorepani
Early in the morning we start our one hour trek to Poon Hill at 3,210 m for a grandiose spectacle: a view of the superb sunrise over all the range of the high Himalayas, including the Annapurnas, Machhapuchhare and Dhaulagiri. In Poon Hill we will spend about 2 – 3 hours (Morning Meditation and Yoga) and then we return to Ghorepani. Day of rest and spiritual reflection.
Day 5: Ghorepani – Tadapani
After a hot breakfast at Ghorepani we begin to climb down to Tadapani (2,600 m). The trail goes along ridges, through the most colorful mountain settlements from Anapurna and across pines and rhododendrons forests. Tadapani, our final destination for today, offers beautiful, clear views of Machhapuchhare and Annapurna South.
Day 6: Tadapani – Ghandrung
Today we climb down some 650 m to Ghandrung (1,950m), the largest village of the Gurung culture. Specific for this area are terraces cultivated with millet (or “bird seed”) and the neat slate-roofed houses separated by a maze of narrow alleyways. The rest of the day we can spend in quiet meditation and admiration of the sunlight on Annapurna South and Hiunchuli.
Day 7: Ghandrung – Birethanti – Naya Pull – Pokhara
After breakfast we climb down to Syauli Bazaar and further on, in a pleasant, easy walk following the river, to Birethanti (1,040 m). After we cross the bridge, we walk through the village admiring plenty of shops and teahouses. Once arrived at the road at Naya Pull, we take the vehicle for 1-hour drive to Pokhara. Regain of baggage and rooms at the hotel.
